Hannah, Noah and Caleb

CTo view full session click here: Drummond Family

The phrase "April showers bring May flowers!" is most definitely true down at The Arb - which was the site of my photo shoot today with the Drummond family. All those rainstorms we went through in April provided some beautiful  Peonies at the Arb for one of our backdrops.

As you grow you forget how magical a place like The Arb can be. When you are younger a place like the woods always seems like another world with endless possibilities. Hannah is 10, Noah is 7, and Caleb is 3. Nowadays it seems like most kids this age would rather be on a computer inside but these three enjoyed exploring and romping around the forest. It was fun to watch these kids get lost in their imaginations and simply enjoy being kids outside. Cheap fun in this situation was not an oxymoron!

The best part was that because this was a non-traditional photo shoot the kids had a great time as they got photographed. They were coming up with creative ideas and leading the process at times. When kids feel like they are a part of the process it really makes their true identity come out on film. They climbed  trees, played in a stream, smelled the flowers, blew bubbles, played many different sports, and built a troll house in the troll village! Truly a day of fun and photos!

I hope you enjoy these photos because there is a lot of purity and youth inside of them. Until next time...

Meyer Wedding

This past weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of traveling to Raleigh, NC to attend the wedding of one of my oldest and dearest friends, Amanda - aka BFF.  She was a beautiful bride and it was a perfect day for a wedding.

I met her soon to be husband the night before the wedding and, within minutes of being introduced, he made me feel like I was part of the family.  I am so happy that my BFF found such a great person to spend the rest of her life with.  Their personalities compliment each other's to perfection, and it is easy to see just how deep and true their love is.

Their venue was a beautiful home on the outskirts of the city. Their ceremony was personal and touching, with many of their family and friends (including their dog!!!) incorporated into the service. Their reception was full of lively guests, delicious food, a photo booth, great music, and hours of dancing.

The morning after the wedding, Amanda and Dan shared with me a game they invented together and have named "High Low."  It's very simple, each night they both share their high and low for the day.  Amanda said this helps her remember that even when a day isn't great, there is always still a high - so fitting for her bubbly and optimistic personality.

So in honor of the bride and groom, I would like to share my high and low for this special day....
High - the wedding, Low - it had to end.

So, congratulations Mr and Mrs Meyer... Here's to the prettiest, here's to the wittiest, Here's to the truest of all who are true, Here's to the neatest, here's to the sweetest... here's to you.

Until next time...
